Join Our Workshop on Effective Communication Strategies For People With Alzheimer’s: Thursday, September 1st!

We are pleased to announce that on Thursday, September 1st, Franklin County Rehab Center will be hosting an educational workshop, aimed at helping caregivers and family members work on effective communication strategies with people who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

“Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States and the only cause of death among the top 10 in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed,” states the Alzheimer’s Association.

This workshop will be lead by our Enrichment Director, Certified Dementia Care Practitioner, and Oasis (Person-Centered Care) Coach, Ann Hawksby. She is also on the facility’s very successful antipsychotic medication reduction team, that believes in trying to assist with behavioral issues, with non-pharmaceutical interventions, such as validation, redirection, small group programs, 1:1 programs, Music and Memory, and aroma therapy.

If you are someone or know someone that suffers from this debilitating disease, please join us. Let’s work together to #EndALZ!
